Herb incorporated Devin
Group, Inc. in 1988, with a vision for the future.
In January 2004, the Devin
Group organization, with divisions and affiliate companies, opened for
business.
Herb’s areas of expertise include new business development – sales and
marketing – turnaround management, strategic planning, construction
management, collective bargaining agreements, real estate development,
professional sports and event venue management, government relations and
contracts, urban planning and economic development, not-for-profit
management, fundraising, and grant writing.
Prior to founding
Devin Group Inc, Herb served as Director, Division of Economic
Development for the County of Mercer, responsible for new and existing
business growth, relocation, and development. For six years, he managed
and directed a 40-person staff in various Divisions, including Housing
and
Development, Cultural and Heritage, Workforce
Investment Board, One-Stop Career Center, and Small Business Opportunity
and Affirmative Action. Herb also fulfilled the responsibilities of
Corporate Vice President over ten years for Yardville Supply Company, a
$20 million building material company.
Herb
is the founder of First Choice Bank, a local community bank
headquartered in Mercer County, New Jersey.
Author:
Herb
is the author of “AIM HIGH-common Sense Success for Common Sense
People”. Herb proposes that the partnership of hard work, character
development, and community outreach is the central axis of successful
character education and business success-ideas richly illustrated with
concrete examples from the author’s vast experiences within his family,
business, and community. Herb reaches across cultural dimensions and
candidly reflects on personal failures and successes to compile a
succinct and essential guide to success. The book appeals equally to
current entrepreneurs, successful business people, or simply any person
seeking common sense guidance to achieve the ultimate American dream.
EDUCATION:
Herb earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Management from
Monmouth University (formerly Monmouth College).
PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS:
Herb serves as Chairman, Economic Development Committee for the Princeton Regional Chamber
of Commerce. He is also a member of the Greater Mercer Chamber of Commerce and Board Member
for the Trenton Business and Technology Center.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Herb is founder of Brighter Futures Foundation, focusing on youth career awareness, grassroots
campaigns, and community issues. He stays very active in the community as co-founder and Board
Member of the Greater Mercer Boys and Girls Club Foundation, Board Member (and past Board Chair)
for the Hamilton Area YMCA, Board Member of the Community Foundation of New Jersey – Mercer Foundation, and Board Member of The Miracle League of Mercer County. Over the years, Herb has
participated on numerous fundraising committees for local not-for-profit organizations, and enjoyed hosting
“In the Public Interest”, a community-focused talk show on WIMG Radio 1300AM and WZBN TV Channel
25. For 13 years, Herb committed his time to coaching boy’s high school basketball, and for 18 years he modeled and acted professionally.
